School Based Programs

School based programs for substance abuse prevention

In class presentations:

  •  Lifeskills: Usually taught in Health classes, our staff uses this Botvin curriculum to teach students the skills they need to resist drugs and make good life choices.  This is a multi-week program that uses games, discussion and activities. 
  • Toward No Drug Abuse (TND): Usually taught in Health classes, this multi-week is an interactive program that teach positive behaviors among youth. 

Teen Groups:

These are typically groups that where students are pulled out of class. Groups are usually during a class period or lunch time for 10-12 weeks. There are various reasons that a student may be recommended for these groups by staff or parents. These may include:

  • Problems with grades
  • Problems with peers
  • Self esteem issues
  • Anger management problems       
  • Grief concerns
  • Depression
  • At risk
  • Other issues
  • Social skills
